Under the leadership of Dr Richard Denny, our friendly and experienced team work to combine state of the art care with top notch customer service, offering innovative new treatments using the latest technology.

Our strength lies through our people. We’re highly professional and well-respected in our field. But we’re also real people, who care about our patients but enjoy living our lives too. So who are we?

Dr Richard Denny

Clinical Director

After 26 years in dentistry, I decided to set up Honesty so I could do things differently.

The idea was to merge the absolute latest technologies with some good old fashioned customer service. I wanted it to be about honesty, trust, openness, compassion and respect, as these things are important to me. And what of my past? Well I qualified from Leeds Dental Institute in 1983 (BChD), where I immediately joined the NHS as an associate in both Hebden Bridge and Cleckheaton.

After three years, I was invited to become a partner in the Hebden Bridge practice. I also completed a two year post graduate orthodontic position at Leeds Dental Institute along with a series of one year programmes under the guidance of Dr Paul Tipton. These courses included Restorative, Advanced Restorative, Cosmetics, Implants and Clinical Skills and really helped shape my decision to subsequently convert my NHS practice into a private practice.

I’m a Full Member of the BACD – I achieved this because of my post grad training at Liverpool with Didier Dietschi, the guru of modern day composite. I’m also a member of the BDBS (British Dental Bleaching Society), a Fellow Member of the World Clinical Laser Institute, Cerec Mentor for Ivoclar and Key Opinion Leader for Kerr.

Because we’re all about people, I like my customers to know a bit about me. I’m married to Carole and together we have three children. Stephen is 29 and also a dentist, working here at Honesty; Andrew is 26 and works in dental recruitment, whilst our youngest, Lauren aged 22, is currently working in Dubai furthering her laser studies in a dermatology clinic. As for what I do in my spare time? Well at the tender age of 55, I confess I like nothing more than a good game of golf, a bit of snooker, or some photography. And, if time permits, heading off to the slopes for a bit of skiing with my family.

Dr Shubham Mittal

I’m one of Honesty’s newest recruits and I take a holistic approach to dentistry.

I’m a general dental practitioner with a passion to deliver expert quality dentistry with a holistic approach to better the fitness of my patients. I provide a full spectrum of cosmetic dentistry using the latest in technology and research, especially for anxious patients. I have years of experience in using sedation techniques for both surgical and routine dental procedures.

My special interests in the field of Implantology culminated in a Master’s degree from the University of Warwick. I conducted three years of research to submit my thesis, which I was invited to present at The International Association of Dental Research in Seattle last year. I believe that with my skillset and experience, even the most nervous patients can be treated with dental implants. My passion for education led me to start another Masters at King’s College London, to learn about advanced methods of restoring the most complicated situations.

I also take a keen interest in teaching and lecturing to fellow colleagues and clinicians. I have been to several national seminars, international symposiums and conferences to spread the joy of quality dentistry.

I am happily married to my lovely wife Pari, who is also a dentist and have a young son. Badminton, cooking and music take up most of my time when not studying.

Dr Phil Evans

Technical Director

When Richard talked to me about Honesty I was delighted to be able to get involved.

This was someone who really wanted an integrated approach to dentistry. And who embraced the technological advances that were available to make a real difference to people’s quality of life. It was definitely the kind of practice that I wanted to be part of. By improving communication between the clinician, technician and manufacturer, we can all work together more effectively with the patient at the centre of our focus. My background has really reflected what I specialise in and am passionate about. I gained a PhD from Leeds University for work on alumina-zirconia ceramic material in 1984 and following post-doctoral work in Japan on a Royal Society Scholarship, I returned to the UK and helped develop flame sprayed alumina ceramics for single unit dental restorations. Since then, Techceram and TTC Ltd has evolved to manufacture and supply the latest ceramic restoration technology available in the dental field to dental labs throughout the UK and now directly to Honesty Dental Care.

My achievements meant I was taken on as the expert for dental ceramics from 1996-2006 representing the UK Standards Institute (BSI) at an international level. A real privilege. I suppose I see dentistry as a balance between science and art, which is why my many interests revolve around modern art including paintings and antique and modern glass. I also enjoy a game of golf and nothing pleases me more than great Italian food and wine – accompanied by good friends of course!

Carole Denny

Practice Manager

I love working with people and really appreciate good customer service myself…

…which is why we place so much importance on getting it absolutely right at Honesty.

So when we talked about setting up Honesty, it made perfect sense for me to take on the role of Practice Manager to oversee the smooth running of the practice. I was in banking until 1987 (when I left to look after our children), so here I get to use both my people and financial skills. I’m responsible for resolving any patient complaints, so if you have any questions about our complaints procedure, please get in touch with me.

I’d already worked with Richard at Hebden Bridge so we knew we made a good team professionally. And we’ve drawn on that experience into making Honesty that little bit more ‘special’. We wanted it to be friendly but professional. Caring, yet respectful. And have a culture that promoted our willingness to always go that little bit further to make it a pleasant experience. When I do get spare time, I like getting away for family skiing holidays. But I also love gardening, interior design and hitting the stage! As a member of Bingley Amateurs, I get to be ‘me’ and indulge in some singing and dancing.

Gillian Crossley

Patient Liaison Coordinator

I worked in private hospitals prior to joining the team at Honesty.

I feel that my customer care skills add to an already excellent reception team. Along with Carole I will the first person you meet and will take care of all your pre-treatment questions or concerns, putting you at ease and taking you through the Honesty experience. Once you’ve completed your visit or treatment, I’ll be there again to agree follow-up appointments and help with payment details.

I am married to Martin and we have 2 daughters. In my free time I enjoy walking our family dog around Baildon’s lovely countryside. My hobbies include, dog walking, travelling and socialising with friends.

Adele McBride

Dental Therapist

I believe dental hygiene is an integral part of our patients’ overall dental care.

It’s about prevention rather than cure. This means I take time to get to know my patients, understand their lifestyles and come up with a dental routine that’s going to work for them. I’ve studied techniques to help phobic patients and work closely with nervous patients to help overcome their fears. Committed to post graduate education, I continually further my knowledge and skills to the benefit of my patients.

As a dual qualified dental hygienist and therapist (Leeds Dental Institute 2008 with merit) I get involved in everything from professional teeth cleaning, to offering education in dental hygiene and – working closely with Richard – to providing nutritional advice, taking radiographs and placing restorations in both adults and children. I find my work with children particularly rewarding. Once you’ve ingrained a healthy attitude to dental hygiene at an early age, you reap the rewards as they grow. We also offer additional services to children – such as helping with extracting baby teeth for those that are finding it uncomfortable or distressful. Outside of work, my interests are in good food, playing the piano and spending time with my children.

Alison Mitchell

Dental Therapist

I began my career as a Trainee Dental Nurse in 2006 with Airedale NHS Trust.

After deciding I wanted to progress further, I set my sights on becoming a Dental Therapist.

I undertook the Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy course at Leeds University in 2009 and I graduated in December 2011 with a Graduate Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy.

I have a keen interest in paediatric dentistry and like to find ways to make dental appointments fun, as well as educational, to build children’s confidence within the dental setting. The most rewarding part of my job is providing patients with the skills to improve and maintain their oral health, to give them a smile they can be proud of.

In my spare time I enjoy books, travelling and trips to the cinema.

Catherine Lilley

Dental Nurse

I started my career in dental nursing in 1996.

I gained qualifications in dental nursing, oral hygiene instruction, application of fluoride varnish and a diploma in dental practice management.

Since joining the Honesty team I have really enjoyed learning new skills, witnessing exceptional dentistry and customer service. I’m currently on maternity leave.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, travel, socialising with friends and spending time with my son and daughter.

Victoria Thomas

Dental Nurse

Following my studies at the Leeds Dental Institute, I’m now a fully qualified Dental Nurse.

Before that, after studying for several years, I obtained a degree in Criminology and an MSc in Forensic Archaeology and CSI.Alongside my studies, I’ve worked in many customer service roles, so understand the importance of great team work when delivering first class customer service. I’ve also had laboratory experience, so I know how important attention to detail is in order to provide that outstanding service. I’m currently on maternity leave.

In my free time, I love learning new skills whether it be new languages or new gym/dance style classes. At home I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, working out and vegetarian cooking.

Mel Davey

Dental Nurse

I had been working in the NHS for 4 years and felt I needed a new challenge.

Working at Honesty gives me the opportunity to increase my knowledge using the latest high tech technology. I can honestly say I couldn’t have found a better place to work. Being a part of Team Honesty has given me a new-found enthusiasm and I am proud to be part of this award winning team. In my spare time I enjoy singing and dancing.

Steph Thomson

I qualified as a Dental Nurse at Leeds Dental Institute in 2011.

My favourite part of the job is meeting patients and I’m known for always being cheerful and making great efforts to put my patients at ease! In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit at the gym, watching films and spending time with my friends. I’ve recently returned from maternity leave and now have 2 children.

Jenna Dixon-Fox

Having worked in hairdressing for 6 years I wanted a career change.

When the opportunity came up with Honesty it was the perfect new challenge.

I first became interested in dentistry after having my braces fitted with Honesty’s resident Orthodontist Steve Duffy. My training will be complete in May 2016. I like the way everyone works together as a team & we are all one big happy family! In my spare time I enjoy spinning classes & snuggling up with my beautiful pug, Coco.

Lucy Wowczyna

Dental Nurse

I started my career at Honesty as an apprentice beautician in 2015.

Once I had qualified as a beautician, I wanted to further my career with Honesty, so began to train as a Dental Nurse in September 2016. Now you’ll find me at both Honesty Dental Care and also at Honesty Skincare.

Outside working hours I enjoy watching my boyfriend play rugby and going to the gym.
