Our move to larger premises in 2019 gave us the opportunity to consider what new treatments might be welcomed by our patients. After much discussion, we agreed that aesthetics and sports therapy would be a natural fit and allow us to stay true to the Honesty ethos. From the start, our aim has been to combine the latest technology with top-notch patient care, in a friendly and luxurious space designed to put you at ease. Expanding our skillset to encompass aesthetics and sports therapy seemed like the right decision, and although it’s still early days, feedback from patients and staff members has been entirely favourable.
We know that many of our patients are curious to learn more about the new treatments we offer, and so this article introduces Honesty Aesthetic Lounge, and lead practitioner Sophie Denny BChD.
Even before she started work at our new Shipley practice, Sophie was already part of the Honesty family. She’s married to dentist Stephen Denny, who is the son of Clinical Director Richard and Practice Manager Carole Denny. (If you’re confused, you can meet the whole team at our website!) Sophie has been a practising dentist for 10 years, and is currently completing an Enhanced Level 7 Certificate in Injectables for Aesthetic Medicine. This is the gold standard of aesthetics qualifications, and Sophie is undertaking this with Harley Academy and SkinViva Training in Manchester.
There has been much discussion in the press recently about the importance of choosing a properly trained medical professional for any injection-based cosmetic treatment. The introduction of the Level 7 Certificate is one of the biggest changes to affect the aesthetics industry for many years. The new qualification is aimed at medical professionals and focusses on teaching theoretical knowledge and building practical skills in carrying out botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatments.
Sophie’s clinical expertise and knowledge of the head and neck have given her the perfect skillset to lead the Honesty Aesthetics team. She is assisted by Lucy Turner, who is a registered dental therapist and also certified in advanced injectable facial aesthetics. Lucy’s area of interest is enhancing the lips, and she recently gained certification from a lip enhancement master class.
Together, Sophie and Lucy aim to improve and enhance the skin of both new and existing patients. Honesty Aesthetic Lounge offers a full range of facial aesthetic treatments, including winkle-relaxing injections and dermal fillers. Whether you want improve the appearance of a blemish or scar, reduce frown lines or crows feet, or add a little volume to cheeks, the team can help. Lip rejuvenation, which can help smooth out those annoying vertical wrinkles which used to be called ‘smokers lines’ but are now described as ‘barcode lines’, is also extremely popular. Both Sophie and Lucy are further developing their skills with training in PRP ‘vampire facials’, and soon this exciting new procedure will be offered at the practice.
Before any treatment takes place, Sophie undertakes a full skin consultation. This allows her to understand the needs of her patient, and discuss concerns and expectations. Sophie will explain which treatments could achieve the desired effect along with the associated cost.
Sophie loves her new role. She commented: “After years in dentistry, it’s nice to be able to give people a procedure they enjoy and that can rapidly make a real difference to their appearance. It’s quite different to dentistry but I’m simply building on the skills I already have. I’ve always been artistic with an eye for detail, and I have a real interest in the science of skincare, so this is a natural progression for me.”
When she’s not working at Honesty Aesthetics, Sophie enjoys spending time with Stephen and their daughter Lilah, aged 4. In the coming years, Sophie plans to study for a diploma in organic skincare formation, with a view to developing an organic skincare line.
